‘There’s No Pain without Gain’
- Since 1999 we advocated for OCCS and now the EEC to Enter into direct
contracts with Independent FCC for the Income Eligible Child Care Contract.
In January 2009, the EEC Board voted to allow 5 Independent FCC to contract
Directly with the EEC.
- We advocated for FCC to be included on all Community Partnership Councils
- We advocated for more Community Partnership slots for Independent FCC
- We advocated for decision making boards to have evening meetings so that FCC can participate
- We won $100,000 in back pay for FCC who were being shortchanged by their Child Care Systems
- We won the right for FCC to have access to the Child Care License
- Plate fund and received $20,000 to help FCC to purchase educational Supplies
- We have FCC representation on the EEC’s Advisory Council, The UPK
- Committee, The QRIS working group, and the Birth To Three Task Force
- We have advocated for the translation of EEC’s written materials in Languages that FCC understands
- Since 2002, we have outreached to Parents and provide a childcare Referral hotline to help FCC enroll children
- Since 2002, we have provided a Statewide outreach to FCC, by phone, mail, email, meetings, and training to keep them informed
- Since 2002, we have promoted FCC to the general public by networking and collaborating with community agencies, disseminating flyers and having vending tables at resource fairs
- In 2004, we provided information and in-depth analysis to FCC about Unions, and we visited other FCC Providers in Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Rhode Island and California to report back about What the Unions were doing in those cities.
- We have provided Career Counseling, outreach and technical assistance for completing The ECE Scholarship, FAFSA forms and the UPK grant forms.
- We have provided business and educational training for FCC
- For three years we have organized donations and prepared 1000 lunches for the Children who attend the Charles Yancey Book Fair Since 2007, we train and assist with licensing Certified Assistants to work in FCC
